Spy Video: Nissan GT-R at the track
February 15, 2007 8:36AM by Michael
The barrage of Nissan GT-R spy shots continue. In the last week, the new GT-R has turned up in New Mexico. After that, we caught it in Los Angeles (and again in L.A.). Now Nissan has brought the GT-R up the coast to the San Francisco Bay area for some track testing.
The Nissan GT-R and its team of engineers headed to Infineon Raceway at Sears Point in Sonoma for a little fine tuning of the suspension. Based on the number of tire changes, Nissan’s engineers were likely testing wheel and tire specifications for production.
The GT-R’s ever-present Porsche 911 Turbo was also there and turned a handful of test laps as a benchmark for the GT-R. Edmunds reports that hand-timing showed the two cars circling the track in nearly identical times with the 911 Turbo just two-tenths faster than the GT-R.
Nissan will stage the world premiere of the GT-R at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show this fall.
More images and another Edmunds video after the jump.
