Spy Video: Nissan GT-R caught at Laguna Seca

February 17, 2007 9:43PM by Michael

The near daily postings of GT-R spy shots appears to be at an end. In just over a week, the GT-R has been spotted in New Mexico, Los Angeles, and at Sears Point Raceway. Before wrapping it up in the States, Nissan headed south from Sears Point to Laguna Seca raceway from another day at the track.

Similar to the previous track day, Nissan appeared to be testing final wheels and tires for production. The GT-R’s benchmark car, the Porsche 911 Turbo, was on hand once again. In a reverse of yesterday’s lap times, the GT-R’s best lap was almost three-tenths better than the 911 Turbo was able to record.

Spy photographers finally caught the GT-R with its hood up, offering a first glimpse at the GT-R’s engine. Based on the the photos (twin intake plenums with three runners each and lots of plumbing), it comes as little surprise that the GT-R will feature a twin-turbo V6.

At the end of the day, Nissan’s engineers posed for a farewell photo, likely meaning this was the last time the GT-R will be seen on these shores until after its world premiere at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show this fall.
